Glossary
- Employee under the Seafarers Act means a seafarer or a trainee
- Seafarer means a person employed on a prescribed ship in any capacity on the business of the ship
- Employee under the OHS(MI) Act means: (a) a person employed by an operator on a prescribed ship or prescribed unit; or (b) a person engaged on a prescribed ship or prescribed unit under articles of association
- Prescribed ship under the Seafarers Act means a ship to which Part II of the Navigation Act applies but does not include a Government ship
- Prescribed ship under the OHS(MI) Act means a ship to which Part II of the Navigation Act 1912 applies but does not include:
- (a) a ship or off-shore industry mobile unit to which the Petroleum (Submerged Lands) Act 1967 applies; or
- (b) a Government ship
- Prescribed unit under the OHS(MI) Act means an off-shore industry mobile unit that is not self-propelled and is under tow.
